Back when I was a high school-age NJ mall rat, roaming the corridors with my gal pals for cute boys, I forced myself to ask a guy for his number. The nausea I felt in preparing myself for such a step was only matched by the humiliation I felt when he and his friends laughed me right out of Spencer’s Gifts.
