Okay, no one actually said it was “awesome” or even “titillating,” but the Advertising Standards Association in England ruled today that a teenage girl’s breast, seen here in an ad for (you guessed it) a clothing company, is not obscene and was show in good taste.

The above photo is from an ad for Jack Wills University Outfitters, and was featured in a catalog sent to the 18-to-22 demographic. The ASA ruled that the image was “not overtly sexual” and “not so provocative as to present a risk to teenagers.”

The company… said its target market was 18 to 22-year-olds, pointed out that customers had to be at least 18 to sign up for the catalogue and believed the image was “tasteful”.

The watchdog also said the woman’s breast was largely covered by her hair and that she did not seem to be striking a “particularly provocative pose”. [The London Paper]

This obviously opens the door for more nudity in advertising in Britain, a trend gaining ground here in the States, thanks to American Apparel’s full-frontal ads for socks and pantyhose.
