My mom was in another room on the phone when they started to screen “Women in Love” on the BBC. I was 17 at the time and my sister 15. Just as Oliver Reed starts to nuzzle Glenda Jackson’s breasts, in she walks. Big explosion. She comes up with the question “Who thought it was a good idea for you to watch this?”. Answer “My English teacher. We’re doing the book right now.” Bigger explosion. My dad somehow missed all this, but just about peed his pants laughing when I described it to him later.
