There have been a lot of complaints that Nick Denton’s New York media site, Gawker, hasn’t employed a full-time female employee since last December, when Sheila McClear got canned. Not that she’s complaining: the young blogeusse has been busy writing pieces for The Post about unemployment benefits for freelancers and has been moonlighting at a night club in Manhattan. Now McClear has signed a deal for her memoir, and surprisingly, it’s not a tell-all expose on Gawker Media. It’s about her time as a peep show dancer.

From Galleycat:

This morning, we’re pleased to hear that the book, formerly titled Every Day I Know Less and Less: Postcards From the New Times Square, has been sold to Denise Oswald of Soft Skull as Last of the Live Nude Girls, in a deal brokered by Holly Bemiss.

We’re psyched for what is sure to be a smart and funny look into the world of educated women who end up dancing to make rent. It might not be the newest story ever told, but with Sheila’s sardonic voice at the helm, it might just be one of the better versions.
