GEO-ANATOMY
Laurent Badessi is enamored with the torso. When he shows a face, it’s accessorized with a cabbage leaf or an obscene sea cucumber — something to obscure its expressiveness. The viewer is forced instead to find meaning in the — excuse my art-speak — texture of shoulder blades, veins, nipples, pores and bumps. We can change our facial expression, but as Ms. b. noted, our backs and our nipples are not ours to control. They belong to biology, like rocks belong to the beach.—Lisa Carver

LES INTIALS B.B.
Jean-Luc Godard described his 1964 film Contempt as “the story of castaways of the Western world . . . [who] one day reach a mysterious island, whose mystery is the inexorable lack of mystery.” What many will recall about, in addition to this aura of angst over love lost, is that Brigitte Bardot, one of the sexiest women of all time, appears stark naked.

Amy Postle’s series captures the romance, glamour and casually radiant nudity of that film. She describes her work as “about the reaction of the waitress, the model, or the housewife when she sees herself as something different . . . It is about feeling comfortable, alive and on fire in your own skin.” May we all lose ourselves in these pictures and feel, just for a moment, as breathtakingly hot as Brigitte Bardot. — Ada Calhoun

TOKYO UNDRESSED
Rikki Kasso- Born in Brooklyn in 1979 on the same birthday as Steven Spielberg, Brad Pitt, Keith Richards, Christina Aguilera, and DMX. Lived alone from the age of 15 and has been a constant victim to his own imagination. He has been involved in Vedanta studies since a teenager, is a strict vegetarian and a huge fan of the Hare Krishnas. An official high school dropout with no formal arts education, he has somehow managed to defy the concept by living as a full time artist with his wife and a white tiger in a Tokyo penthouse.
There is no categorizing of his life or works, just watch.

AT EASE
There are two types of people: the comfortably naked and those who are not.

The comfortably naked come home from work, take off all their clothes and flip on Scrubs. They take hot baths, towel off and neglect to get dressed. They chat on the phone, totally nude, twirling the spiral cord with their big toe. They cook naked, impervious to splattering oil.

The people in these photos do have it, which is why lounging on a bookshelf in the buff over a crimson sofa looks oddly natural through Natasha Gudermane’s pointed lens. I love how this woman is half reclined on a couch with her head resting on her shoulder as if she were about to sigh and tell you what a tough day she’s had. She probably hasn’t been dressed in hours.

I wish I could be like her, but the fact is that nudity comes naturally only to the lucky few for whom slipping into something more comfortable means dressing up in nothing at all. — Will Doig

AIKO T
Michel Comte seems not to care much for photography theory or the politics of gender, concentrating instead on the allure of his own attraction to his subject, the uninhibited Aiko T., for whom his newest book is named. Aiko T. recalls another era in art, when the relationship of artist to model became a subject in its own.

Artists such as Jean-Leon Gerome (1824-1904) painted numerous scenes in which Pygmalion sculptors found erotic bliss in the suddenly-animated arms of their marble women.

There was no need, however, for Comte to take that literal step into Aiko’s world, to embrace her before his own lens; his thorough fascination with feminine beauty is already manifest in his gentle, unobtrusive camera work. —Grady T. Turner

MERKLEY???
Way back in 2006 , MERKLEY??? spent a solid year blogging about his hectic way of life, covering all subjects from sex to hotdogs with girls, boys, creatives, and crazies all mixed in. Poppy imagery and interesting interviews make for a good read, in case you are looking for a reason to blow off your job ( if you still have one) today.……

merkley??? was raised a strict Mormon in Utah. He served a Mormon mission to Brazil, where he masturbated semi-regularly. He felt terrible about it. He has seventeen siblings, and his parents have been married three times each. They feel terrible about it. When his Mormon relatives who share his name Google merkley, he is the number-one result. THEY feel terrible about it. He lives in San Francisco, where he photographs naked women, pets, gays, and the occasional chump. He feels ok about it.Comments: (0)

SUPERCULT
Supercult- Nerve’s answer to mouthwatering sexiness tied up in elegance and a bit of naughtiness.

Chase Lisbon was born in an Ozark mountain commune in the mid seventies. He was later raised in various apartment complexes throughout America and spent most of his childhood looking up the skirts of older girls. He created Supercult.com from a dream in a cold Boston apartment in 2001. He lives in his basement laboratory in a section of Baltimore that evolution forgot, and he’s more likely to be found in a greyhound bus station than an art show.
