“I’ve noticed women can be their most beautiful when they’re nude, once they grow accustomed to it. There’s no lying at that point, no other consideration.

And they get a buzz from the realization that someone else can find them so worthy of attention in such a basic state.”-Richard Lohr

AT EASE

There are two types of people: the comfortably naked and those who are not.

The comfortably naked come home from work, take off all their clothes and flip on Scrubs. They take hot baths, towel off and neglect to get dressed. They chat on the phone, totally nude, twirling the spiral cord with their big toe. They cook naked, impervious to splattering oil.

The people in these photos do have it, which is why lounging on a bookshelf in the buff over a crimson sofa looks oddly natural through Natasha Gudermane’s pointed lens. I love how this woman is half reclined on a couch with her head resting on her shoulder as if she were about to sigh and tell you what a tough day she’s had. She probably hasn’t been dressed in hours.

I wish I could be like her, but the fact is that nudity comes naturally only to the lucky few for whom slipping into something more comfortable means dressing up in nothing at all. — Will Doig
